Description
Economics may be catching up to the good ol' 757 (many carriers are replacing the venerable design with A321s or 737-900s), but it's a hard argument to win that ANYTHING in existence or on the drawing boards can match that particular Boeing's takeoff performance. With two engines providing what is usually deemed as "power in excess" for a plane of its size plus a large wing, the 757 is one of those planes that rarely has a problem getting out of an airfield. It's short field departure capabilities are as legendary as its amazing climb angle.
That's all I could think about when I finished processing this picture of a United 757. The hints of red tinging the smoke that trails behind the Boeing really sings to the airliner's almost unique power-to-weight ratio. It's blistering performance in this day and age. Let's enjoy it while we can.
